Christmas at Kipu Falls

What better way to spend Christmas than at one of our favorite spots in Kauai – Kipu Falls.

We spent Christmas morning eating a nice Christmas breakfast and doing a simple gift exchange.  As a tradition, my parents always give everyone a little money for a gift exchange.  We draw names and then have fun shopping in the shopping center right next to the hotel.   This year it was especially fun to open our gifts Christmas morning.  After we celebrated Christmas and the babies got their naps in, it was time to head off to Kipu Falls.

We LOVE this place.  It is a short hike down to the waterfall where you can jump off the cliff into the water or take your try at the rope swing.  Although I love the cliff jumping, I think this was my last year doing the rope swing.  Every year I let go wrong and fall in weird and end up getting hurt.  My skin was stinging the rest of the day.  I think I should retire from the rope swing before I do any serious damage :)  Jason, on the other hand, is like a monkey and can use the rope swing to perfection.

Jason helped Dawson scale down the cliff and then found him a smaller cliff he could jump off of.  He had a blast scaling the tree vines and then jumping off the ledge Jason found him.

The kids had fun playing in the water at the top of the falls.

And Dawson had a lot of fun modeling (yes, he posed and then begged me to take his picture) and exploring…

So, the only down side to this day…it was raining…a lot.  Poor Lisa – she just tried to stay warm and dry.
