This week has been tough - 2 sick kids, 1 sick baby, a ton of work and a baby who refuses to nurse. Stress! Holden started getting sick on Saturday and by Monday he refused to nurse. After a whole week of trying to pump (unsuccessfully), constantly trying to feed him, taking fenegreek, drinking a ton of water, taking him to the doctor, talking to nurses and crying a bit - I am finally coming to terms with the fact that Holden has quit on me.
Holden has been finicky about nursing for a while now, but we were doing ok and he would just refuse a feeding every now and again. I think this sickness put him over the edge and he will have nothing to do with it now. He just yanks his head back and will not even attempt to nurse. Both Dawson and Taya quit on me as well - but they were 10.5 and 9.5 months old. I love breastfeeding and really would like to make it to a year - but my babies keep quitting on me. I have been pretty sad about it all week and have been trying everything to get my milk supply back in case he started feeling better and changed his mind. But, he is not changing his mind and the milk is gone......The nurses all say self weaning is the best and to move on. So, I am trying to move on and look at the bright side. I got to nurse him for 8 months, which is great, and I will certainly be happy to have my body back...which leads me to my next post.

that is frustrating!! My kids all nursed very well but I was glad when Mia quit earlier than the rest. I need some freedom I think. Good luck with loosing the baby weight! I still need to . . . # 4 was a killer in that area for me. I'm still working on it but not enough to drop the dress size to be back to pre prego form.
Quitting early would be hard but making a baby stop nursing when they don't want to is hard also. Taylor refused to take a bottle or sippy cup. I finally got her weaned when she was 14 months. That was too long for me.
